Alston Law is a boutique technology-driven Scottish law firm specialising in the provision of conveyancing and debt recovery services to property and financial services clients.
The firm was founded in 1979, when it was known as Turner McFarlane Green, and rebranded in 2019 as Alston Law. Headquartered in Glasgow, we act for clients across UK.
Our large team of specialist paralegals and lawyers typically hold Law Society of Scotland Specialist Accreditations in Debt Recovery or Conveyancing or are Accredited Legal Technologists.
We are absolutely committed to delivering the best possible client experience and to addressing the things lawyers and law firms typically get wrong when delivering legal services.
Acting for a diverse lender client base, we specialise in the recovery of loans, credit cards, store cards, business debts, commercial loans and utility and telecoms debt, we recognise the importance of compliance and customer outcomes and ensure that we continually align ourselves with FCA and other regulatory requirements.
We work with a number of major and specialist UK motor finance providers. Our team have a track record of delivering exceptional results for their motor finance clients due to their specialist vehicle recovery experience and strategic partnership with a leading Scottish recovery agent.
The firm’s early growth was driven by our specialist expertise in property law and conveyancing. Our large team of property lawyers and paralegals deal with all aspects of conveyancing; including sales and purchases, remortgages, corrective conveyancing, first registrations and drafting lending documentation for lenders.
Mortgage recoveries are highly sensitive, heavily regulated and carry significant reputational risk for lenders and the process of recovering mortgaged properties in Scotland is notoriously complicated. Denise Loney and Rob Aberdein offer a ‘safe pair of hands’ as two of Scotland’s leading practioners in this area and together have acted for many of the UK’s mortgage lenders, with over forty years of combined experience between them.
Denise is a solicitor with over 30 years’ experience, specialising in providing legal services to lenders across property and litigation matters. Denise is also a senior tutor at the University of Glasgow, teaching on the postgraduate Diploma in Professional Legal Practice and a Board member of the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission. Denise has also held voluntary roles with the Law Society of Scotland and currently serves on the committee responsible for administering and developing the scheme for accredited paralegals.
